Doylestown, PA started its long history when William Doyle built a tavern on what is now the corner of Main and State street. Thanks to its central location, it grew steadily to become the cultural powerhouse that it is today. Many people have left their mark on Doylestown, such as Henry Chapman Mercer. Mercer created the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, the Mercer Museum, and Fonthill, his home. After his passing he wanted all three buildings to became museums to share the history of the country that he cherished. Doylestown’s cultural centers aren’t limited to Mercer, though. A former prison across the street from the Mercer Museum was converted into the James A. Michener Art Museum. There is also a music conservatory, several writers’ and artists’ organizations and regular cultural activities in Doylestown, PA.

Doylestown, PA features some incredible parks. You can experience one of natures wonders at the Ringing Rocks park, where the rocks resonate much like a bell when struck. This extremely rare phenomenon is a must-see for anyone who enjoys the magic of nature. There is also Peace Valley Park, which features Lake Galena. Lake Galena in its current state formed naturally when Bucks County flooded in 1972. Most of the land it now covers was used to mine Galena, a lead ore, giving the lake its name. You can also visit the Peace Valley Nature Center for education and recreation.
