Hello and welcome to one of PAHouseLink.com’s video walkthroughs. I’m your host, Steve from the PAHouseLink.com team bringing you one of our foreclosure properties.
Today we are viewing 77 Dogwood drive in Levittown, PA 19055. Located in the Dogwood Hollow development in Bucks county, this property is part of Bristol Township and the Bristol township school district. This 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1 story house has a unique style known as a Levittowner. This style is named after architect Alfred Levitt, who also lends his name to the town. The style is known for its open floor plan, placing the kitchen, living room, and laundry room around a central fireplace. Well get a good look at this once we’re inside.
Forewarning: This property is a shell of itself, quite literally. The interior has been stripped and gutted and debris has been left lying around. The exterior is falling apart, from roof shingles to driveway. Almost everything will need to be replaced in some way. Not what I would call a DIY…
Now that we’ve been introduced, let take the tour…
Here we have a shot of the front of the house. On the right you see the detached garage, on the left is the house itself, and in the center is a covered patio. This layout is part of the Levittowner style.
Walking around the side of the property we can see some of the exterior work that needs to be done. Around the back we can see that a good portion of the backyard is a large in-ground pool, however there is still plenty of room for other activities.
Here we get a close up of the covered patio with doors leading to both the house and garage. The garage itself is huge, though it’s currently full of trash and could use plenty of work on its own.
Stepping inside we see what makes the Levittowner style so unique. This large room is actually the kitchen, laundry room, and living room all in one, divided by the central fireplace. To the right we have the laundry room, tucked away in the corner. Across from that is the eat-in kitchen. On the other side of the fireplace is the living room. I should note that the original designs for these rooms featured sliding sound-proof walls to divide them, if the owner so chose. Those walls are currently missing.
Down the hallway next to the laundry room we see the bathroom. Here we see what would be bedroom 1. Followed by bedroom 2 and finally bedroom 3. With a little bit (okay, a lot) of effort this property could look as amazing as the day it was built.
We wrap up this tour with the neighborhood shot. Hopefully you too see the potential in owning a piece of Levittowns history.
